About Suzannah

My first teacher was the Sea. As a child I spent countless hours in the water, diving beneath the surface to find treasures invisible to the naked eye. Shafts of sunlight exposing teeming schools of minnows, jellyfish undulating beneath the wave crest, ordinary rocks transformed into jewels, their rough edges smoothed by the rise and fall of the tides. The crashing of the waves , the gulls, the sounds of children laughing , a song of sacred prayer. I reveled in this wondrous world of the senses until, purple lipped, I emerged shivering to the shore.

The sea became a metaphor for my healer's journey. To ride the waves of the soul, one must possess the ability to swim with grace and endurance, flow with the current, breathe deeply, see underwater, and know when to emerge to rest on the shore. This is the essence of energy medicine.

Undergraduate and postgraduate work in psychology and social work provided a solid diving off point. Yoga and the study of Eastern Religions taught me to navigate the channels of energy in the body, find my edge, and rest within the spaces between the breath. Playing music gave me grace, fluidity and a sense of expansion. Over twenty years as a leader in the human services field gifted me compassion, endurance, and a warrior spirit as I struggled to bring about system change and improved quality of life for the disenfranchised.

A series of studies in healing arts including Healing Touch, Reiki, and Hypnosis were pearls in the necklace of World Medicine. The strand which holds these pearls together is the Chakra System. I was initiated to this system through two wonderful pathways. The first was a two year course of study at the Center for Healing Arts and Sciences in Connecticut, whose curriculum was based on the theory of Barbara Brennan, an astrophysicist, psychotherapist and renowned author. It was there that I learned the science of energy medicine, how to interpret physical and energetic energy patterns, and enhance my ability to "see" through touch and inner vision.

In 1998, I was blessed to be introduced to my current teacher, Anodea Judith, whose research and study of the Chakra system has been used in countless Healing Arts Schools throughout the world. Her most recent book, Waking The Global Heart takes a global perspective as she presents new organizing principles for global change. On a personal level, I have been able to step into my power through the chakra system, and become part of the global sea of Chakra Co-hearts, who are devoting themselves to the healing of the planet.

I extend to you an invitation to embark on your own hero's journey. You possess the courage, the tools and the birthright. I am honored to serve as guide and space-holder.
